1964 Ecco-Fonic Transistor Tape Echo
Year: 1964
Brand: Ecco-Fonic
Model: Transistor Tape Echo
Class: Echo-Delay
Owner: Jeff Hewitt
Status: In Studio.

I've found no information on this unit at all. The chassis and electronics are almost identical to the Fender 501 Echo Unit (1963-68). All of the internal CTS pots date to the 10th week of 1964. The main differences with this one is the control plate attached to the top that relocates the jacks and controls from the front to top under the lid, a slightly larger case, a mic input channel with it's own transistor preamp, and a playback switch that disables the record and erase head and creates a loop. The unit is definitely made by Ecco-fonic. The serial number is the same type sticker as all of the 501 echos I've seen. The playback loop sound on sound switch control can be added to any of the 501's (I've added it to all of mine).
